ReTAAS Closed for New Applications

With effect from 1st April, 2021, the “Retail Technology Adoption Assistance Scheme for Manpower Demand Management” (ReTAAS) will be closed for new applications. Enterprises still interested in applying for ReTAAS must submit their applications to the ReTAAS Secretariat before 6:00 pm on 31st March, 2021. An application should include a duly completed application form (with a soft copy), together with valid supporting documents.

Applications submitted and projects approved before the aforementioned deadline will not be affected.

「零售業人力需求管理科技應用支援計劃」(簡稱ReTAAS) 將於2021年4月1日起停止接受新申請。仍有興趣申請ReTAAS的企業必須於2021年3月31日下午6時前向「零售業人力需求管理科技應用支援計劃」秘書處遞交申請。申請應包括已填妥的申請表格(連電子複本)及所需之有效證明文件。

上述限期前已遞交的申請或已獲批資助的項目將不受影響。

Objective

To provide funding support for retail enterprises to adopt technologies for manpower demand management purposes and help to enhance productivity.

Project Duration

Each funded project should be completed within 6 months.

Eligibility

All non-listed enterprises registered in Hong Kong under the Business Registration Ordinance (Chapter 310) with substantive retail business operations in Hong Kong are eligible to apply, irrespective of their number of outlets.

Funding Amount

Funding will be provided on a matching basis, i.e. enterprise will be funded for a maximum of 50% of the total approved project cost. Up to two projects from a single applicant may be approved, subject to the cumulative ceiling of funding support of $50,000.

Scope of Funding

Projects must be related to the management of manpower demand of the applicant.
A list of typical technologies are as follows:

  • POS System (Point-of-sales System)
  • e-shop
  • Electronic Payment System
  • Inventory System
  • Security and Surveillance System (e.g. CCTV)

Other projects, such as projects solely to promote the business of the enterprise, are not eligible for application. Only expenses directly related to the project can be funded. Daily operation costs of the enterprise (e.g. the salary for employees, office rent, general administrative and office expenses, etc.) are not eligible for funding. The Government sets aside $50 million for Retail Technology Adoption Assistance Scheme for Manpower Demand Management (ReTAAS) to help the retail industry to adopt relevant information and communications technology and other technologies that help manage manpower demand.

What's New

  • To further support the local retail industry, there are enhancement measures under the ReTAAS Assistance Scheme and started to receive applications from 1 April 2020 onwards. Enhancement measures include an option to select initial payment up to 50% of the total approved government funding (maximum up to HK$25,000). In addition, the Government will provide full funding support for the audit fee of approved project, capped at HK$2,000 per audit. For details, please refer to the latest Guide to Application.

  • To facilitate project implementation by grantees, the minimum requirement for written quotations for procurement or lease of equipment, goods or services under ReTAAS projects from over HK$50,000 to HK$300,000 (aggregate value) will be reduced from five quotations to three quotations with effect from 15 November 2017.   • A simplified ReTAAS application form and sample forms are updated.

  • To expedite processing, ReTAAS applications will be vetted on a rolling basis throughout the year instead of in quarterly batches from Q2 2017 onwards. Please refer to the latest Guide to Application.
